What is embroidery digitizing?

Embroidery digitizing is the work of turning a picture, logo, or lettering into a file that an embroidery machine can sew. The picture itself is not enough. The machine needs a path: where the needle starts, which color sews first, and how the stitches fill each shape.

A person who digitizes looks at your artwork and builds that path by hand. The result is a file such as DST, PES, or JEF. You load that file on your machine, hoop the fabric, and sew.

Why a photo will not sew by itself

A JPEG or PNG is a grid of colors. An embroidery machine does not paint colors. It lays thread. If you send a photo to a machine with no digitizing, nothing useful happens. Someone has to decide stitch type, density, underlay, and pull compensation so the design holds its shape on cloth.

What you receive

You receive a machine file, not a printed pattern. Tell us the size and your machine brand if you know it. Most home sewers use Brother (PES), Janome, or Singer. Shops often want DST. We can send up to two formats with each order.
